About UWC Albania

The UWC Albania National Committee (NC) is a volunteer-led group dedicated to selecting and supporting students and their families for the UWC movement. Our members are passionate about education and international understanding, working together to create opportunities for young changemakers.

The national committee conducts selections in Albania every year, organizes the orientation program for selected students, communicates with parents, schools and students, as well as organizes events for the global network of Albanian UWC Alumni.

Every year, the 17 UWC colleges and the central office decide on the number of individual places and scholarships offered to each national committee in the world. UWC Albania announces the offers available for Albanian students during the selection period of each year. The committee receives at least one full scholarship offer each year as well as several partial or no scholarship offers. About five to eight Albanian students are selected for UWC each year.

Who forms the National Committee?

Our UWC National Committee is made up of individuals who share UWC’s mission and values. These include:

• UWC alums – Former students who have attended UWC schools, bringing firsthand experience of the UWC journey.
• Other volunteers – Supporters of UWC and education psychology professionals who contribute their time and expertise to help tailor the selection process for students.

Our history and impact

• Founded in 1991 and registered as a non-profit organisation (NGO) in 2012, UWC Albania has been selecting and supporting students for many years.
• Over 180 students from Albania have attended UWC schools and colleges since the committee’s formation.
• Most of our students have received scholarships over the years, making UWC accessible to students from all backgrounds.

• Our volunteers include many UWC alums who understand the experience firsthand and are dedicated to guiding new students.
• We maintain strong connections with UWC schools, colleges, and alumni to offer insights and support to students and their families throughout their journey.
